Prezi: The PowerPoint Alternative

If you have been a college student for more than a year, you have probably seen a hundred PowerPoint presentations. While PowerPoint does an adequate job presenting information, there are alternatives. One such alternative is a Prezi presentation.

What is Prezi? Essentially, it is a FREE online presentation program that enables you to create cool moving presentations that can possess the same information as PowerPoint, but allow you to present information in a more interactive way. The benefits of Prezi over PowerPoint are numerous. One, the motion of the Prezi provides a more innovative way to present information. Also, there are stronger color schemes and thematic elements that make for a more interesting presentation. For instance, you can copy or create a whole image and then place your entire presentation with your image. Really, the sky is the limit. Finally, the ability to save online means that as long as you have access to the internet, you have access to your prezi, so you don't have to worry about it not saving or becoming lost.

Overall, Prezi is a great alternative to PowerPoint. There is a little bit of a learning curve and there may be instances when PowerPoint is better, but you should give it a try, especially if you are bored with PowerPoint.
